I was right about Turkey

A little while ago I wrote about my opinion of Erdogan the president of Turkey, many of my close friends were not very happy but today I have been proven right as a constitutional adjustment has been passed that will allow him more powers and give him the right to stay till 2029.
So many things has happened to the world across centuries but what's baffling is we appear to have learnt so little. A man survives a coup without a specific face of the coup leader and an attempt that was comical at best and it just happens that this man goes on an offensive to arrest thousands and shut down opposition media and purged the military, police, judiciary and civil servants? Doh!
My first visit to Turkey was 2005 and I saw a beautiful land where different religion coexisted. I even went to a street in Istanbul where a church , mosque and Synagogue stood next to each other for years. I nearly bought a holiday home there. Sailing on the Bosphorus straddling between Europe and the Middle East.
My return visit last year was different as I was welcome by a barrage of warnings as a terrorists bomb just killed some German tourists. Everywhere were Hijab wearing women which were not a sight in 2005. This country has become so much more Islamised and not good news for all. I felt a looming presence of Erdogan everywhere I went an indication of a potential dictator. This beautiful country has been soiled and I couldn't quite work out how.
My submission is that Erdogan is a tyrant in waiting and events are proving me right. Watch out for this one, he will play a major role in the chaos coming.

The 45th President of America

I have written a lot about Trump and will not go over what has already been said. The fact that he will be sworn in this week makes it imperative to remind all where I stand on this matter.
Trump ran an unconventional campaign and won the presidency. It's very important to remind ourselves how. He told the bigots lets make America great again a veiled message to those uncomfortable with a black president, he made disparaging remarks about women sending a veiled message to the chauvinists, he made an insulting comment about a handicapped reporter sending a veiled message to his redneck supporters, he went to evangelicals and said he believed in God and was against Homosexuals and in staunch support of Israel, this rallied this religious base, he said he would ban all Moslems from coming  in and would build a wall  barring Mexico sending a veiled message to the  Nationalists. Trump promised to bring jobs to America without actually explaining how sending a veiled message to the many unemployed.
Trump ran a brilliant campaign and got the response he wanted causing a big upset in the results. We are all aware of this.
Now, he will take up office this week and I will be watching how he will deliver on all these promises. My stand? I stand by what God told me that his victory will begin the judgement of America. I don't quite know how this will affect the populace but I know God allowed his victory and like Nebuchadnezzar, it's not good  news for God's people. I take my solace in the fact that God is still in control and still reeling from how a brilliant deviant deceived a nation. Stuff for Hollywood movie. Thank God I'm British.

Thank you Barrack and Michelle

Very soon Barrack Obama will end his 8 year tenure as president of America. I wanted to take some time to say thank you to him and his wife for representing Africans in the best way possible within reason.
I remember where I was when he declared his intention to run, I was rounding up my postgraduate in Oxford surrounded by brilliant minds who hastily concluded he could never win. I have to add I agreed with them at the time because I thought the powers that be would never allow it but to all of our dismay and my pleasant surprise, he won not only once but twice.
This is not to rehearse what happened but to put it in ink my appreciation and admiration of what this couple have achieved for my kind. Highly educated cutting against the widely held perception of poorly educated African Americans, classy cutting against the view of African Americans being Gettho, pursuing peace with restraints cutting  against the view of violence in my race, trying to bring decency to the health of the  poor, something no previous president has been able to do, looking after all constituencies including the LGBT community, something that has touched a Raw nerve among my people, bringing class and accessibility to the office of the First Lady.
I want to say thank you to these two for giving my children an example of what is possible if we try irrespective of oppositions. Giving an example of how true Christianity is inclusive even when we don't support the acts. Reminding me of those Jesus chose to hang out with. (Thieves to Prostitutes).
Very soon, they will be gone from the White House but I will always remember a couple that gave me a glimmer of hope for a truly hopeless humanity and proved that all things are possible if God is involved.
Very soon a new president will be sworn in and America will go back to another tenure but I choose to use this time to thank this couple who will live in my heart forever. As for the country, I remember a Bob Marley song, many more will have to suffer, many more will have to die , don't ask me why.........
