So many things has happened to the world across centuries but what's baffling is we appear to have learnt so little. A man survives a coup without a specific face of the coup leader and an attempt that was comical at best and it just happens that this man goes on an offensive to arrest thousands and shut down opposition media and purged the military, police, judiciary and civil servants? Doh!
My first visit to Turkey was 2005 and I saw a beautiful land where different religion coexisted. I even went to a street in Istanbul where a church , mosque and Synagogue stood next to each other for years. I nearly bought a holiday home there. Sailing on the Bosphorus straddling between Europe and the Middle East.
My return visit last year was different as I was welcome by a barrage of warnings as a terrorists bomb just killed some German tourists. Everywhere were Hijab wearing women which were not a sight in 2005. This country has become so much more Islamised and not good news for all. I felt a looming presence of Erdogan everywhere I went an indication of a potential dictator. This beautiful country has been soiled and I couldn't quite work out how.
My submission is that Erdogan is a tyrant in waiting and events are proving me right. Watch out for this one, he will play a major role in the chaos coming.
Mathew A Daniel I do not know your religion inclination, but I would want to you to listen to a christian preacher called Chuck Missler. According to him the biblical pophesy of the nations that will atrack Israel will come from Turkey. That all looked unlikely with a religious torrent turkey back when he said it, as your blog indicates this has since changed and very drastically over a period of only 10 years, and its picking momentum fast. I will be watching this space.
